Summer "Space" Week

With a theme like "Space", we just had to read a fun story like "Aliens Love Underpants" by Claire Freedman.
On the scientific side, we also looked at our Star Guide book.

We had fun making our own alien space ships

We designed our own rockets, and raced them.
I think it was so funny that the boys made their rockets so small, especially since I gave them all the same size papers!
We attached our rockets to straws on a string, then used balloons as our rocket fuel!
Our rockets were to zoom up the string at the end of the countdown.
It was fun, but did not always give the desired results.
Next time I think we need to make sure our strings are good and tight!

Last but not least, we did some star gazing at our camp-out on Friday night.
We had fun looking at the moon, and looking for constellations.  The picture I did not take but wish I had...kids lined up in the dark behind a chair, waiting their turn to look at the moon through the telescope.
