The last week of June our theme was Music. For this one we did something a little different.
Aside from the usual, expected stuff like books about music from the library, and listening to music at home throughout the week, we went on a couple of field trips.
First we visited the local radio station group and took a tour. Our friend Ben joined us.
| Cache Valley Media Group houses 8 radio stations for the valley. |
| We learned about ads on the radio, and how they layer the sounds and voice to make it sound cool. |
| We learned about the news room. |
| And we learned about how the DJs set up their programs, so they don't even have to be there! |
Next we went to the Booktable, where they sell instruments and provide some lessons too.
| They showed us all of the string instruments. |
| We learned that a bow is made from horse hair, and it needs rosin to make sound on the strings. |
| We learned about oboes... |
| and saxophones... |
| and trombones. |
We loved how they showed us how the instruments sound and we learned how the air makes the sounds.
