Summer "Lemons" week

With a short week before heading off to the Jones reunion, we made the most of it by talking about lemons. We kicked off this week sitting down together to create our business plan for a lemonade stand. We figured the detailed costs for running a stand, what they would need, what to charge, when to run it, and who would do what.

Their stand made its debut on Tuesday afternoon during upper 90 degree weather. If we were that hot surely others might need some refreshments too! The kids charged 25¢ for a regular glass of lemonade and then picked and crushed their own raspberries to add in order to make fresh raspberry lemonade, which sold for 50¢.

It worked! As they danced on the driveway with their signs, people took pitty on them and stopped to indulge. Most chose the raspberry lemonade (which was absolutely delicious I must say!)

Between their efforts on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon, they made $24.00! After paying their bills to me they made a nice $20 profit which was split between them. I think they had a good time and also learned that sometimes it takes work to have fun! Hopefully they will appreciate that money more after what it took each of them to earn it.
