Summer "Birds" Week

We talked about birds and even checked out some bird books to try to identify some of the birds we see around our house. Later in the week we headed over to Brigham city to hook up with our fun Jones cousins for a picnic in the shadow of the temple there.

We then glided over to the Bear River Bird Refuge for a bird adventure.  We hooked up with some Jr Ranger backpacks full of awesome tools to help us discover more about nature and birds!

We took a little walk on the discovery trail at the visitors center and tried to catch butterflies, looked at fish eggs, found snake skins, and caught and examined bugs.

When we finally (whew) made it back around to the car, we headed west to the auto tour portion of our visit. We saw Great Blue Herons (huge!), Ibis (beautiful purple hued birds), Grebes (fancy black and white) Pelicans (we observed their sincronized fishing patterns), Avocets (little sea birds that decided to do their nesting right by the road), and many other varieties of birds.

We really enjoyed our bird adventures with cousins!
