We had a very nice Thanksgiving vacation at Melissa & Hyrum's house in Riverton. Grandma Powell was recovering from knee surgery, and Zach was recovering from surgery to get his rod out, so they were a nice pair getting around with their walkers.
We all pitched in with the food, and had a yummy awesome Thanksgiving dinner. We are so lucky to have abundance enough to not only come away stuffed, but also to have yummy leftover to enjoy for days afterwards.
We gave the kids an assignment to fulfill before they could play on the Wii at Melissa's house. To earn their first half hour of wii time they had to make a list of thirty things they are thankful for. Then through the weekend they had to add more to their list for every five minutes of playing time. Also for every half hour playing time they had to go outside for at least 10 minutes and read a book for at least 10 minutes.
Thursday night all the girls took off together and went Black Friday shopping. It was fun to do this together and get to know all my "sisters" better. I don't think I would ever attempt this on my own....It was such a team effort, and I found some good deals.
Friday was full of food, wii fun, and the girls even convinced me to go shopping again with them! The afternoon warmed up enough for us all to enjoy some backyard games of ladder ball, croquet, and Bocce ball. Everyone pitched in again to accomplish a yummy culture rich dinner of spaghetti, garlic bread, eggrolls and fried won-tons! Don't forget the beginning of the Christmas Movie marathon!
Saturday was leisurely and included some long awaited wii time for some of the adults. Packing up and saying goodbye to fantastic family and relaxing vacation time is always hard. But it also serves to make us more thankful for the time that was spent together. Thank you Powells and Steeds for the good times!!
