Grandma & Grandpa Powell are serving an LDS Mission in
Santa Rosa California.
We went to see
them on our Spring Break!
Friday and Saturday found us on a Road Trip through the
nothingness of Nevada, overnight at Reno, a quick visit to the Reno LDS Temple,
through the Sierra Nevada’s, and on into California.
We stopped in Fairfield to visit the Jelly Belly
Factory. We took a tour, and of course got
lots of jelly beans!
Took a detour south for a quick visit to San Francisco. Went across the San Francisco/Oakland Bay Bridge and got a nice view of the city. Made our way up a few of the steep streets they are noted for. We found it quite different driving around there with all of that traffic and so many people.
We also visited the Golden Gate Bridge! It was quite windy there, but it was a beautiful thing to see. Engineer John was in Geek Heaven!
On Sunday we enjoyed hanging out with Grandma & Grandpa
Powell and learning about the work they are doing there.
Santa Rosa has beautiful parks, and we enjoyed picnicking and visiting
a few of the parks.
Monday we had the added adventure of some car trouble. As we were filling up with gas, about to leave
town, in a very blessed turn of events we noticed a leak. Though it set us back a few hours and changed
a few of our plans for the day, we were able to get the water pump replaced,
and made our way up the coast to Camp Liahona and into the redwood forests. Along the way, the kids got their first glimpse of the vastness and power of the ocean!

I've been excited to read all about your adventures! Looks like a wonderful trip (minus the car trouble!). Can't wait for part 2!
