This year for fall break we sat down and brainstormed ideas of things we wanted to do. Of course you can't fit everything in and make everyone happy all the time, but I think we did a pretty good job of having a fun get away.
With Grandma and Grandpa Powell off on their mission, we get to take care of their tent trailer for a while. We have never really camped with the kids at this time if year because it is a lot colder at night. But camping in a tent trailer with a heater makes for a fun time.
So this is how our break's fun line up turned out. On Thursday, we met the Jones family at Dylan's in Kaysville for burgers. Then we all tromped off for a day of fun with cousins at Cherry Hill (Scary Hill for this weekend!) So much to do it's hard to know where to begin! We did some mini golf, a fun maze, rock wall, bounce house, air ball, ball pit, bumper boats, and a favorite of all was the Battlestar blaster!
After a dinner at Applebee's we headed out to Antelope Island where we grabbed a campsite, set up the trailer and got to bed. Everyone was pretty tired so it went smoothly. Friday morning we cooked up some pancakes, packed up a bit, and went to explore the beaches and visitor center.
We headed back to camp and packed up the trailer while eating lunch then went for a drive to the other side of the island to check out the buffalo and the historic ranch.
By Friday evening we had made our way to Willard Bay and went round and round the loops till we found the perfect campsite for our clan. The kids instantly adopted the big beautiful tree as the hangout spot, and explored all around in the bushes and trees and romped in the fall leaves.
We enjoyed a delicious dinner of spaghetti and meatballs in the trailer, then got all comfy and cozy and ready to snack on popcorn while watching a new movie "Hotel Transylvania!" Everyone loved it and got along really well. It was a fun twist to add to a campout!
Saturday morning we did some more exploring and finally found the beach, which we had pretty much to ourselves. We built sand castles and had fun getting really dirty.
We really had a nice time together, and even seemed to leave a lot of the grumbling and fighting behind.
Great bonding and memories for the Powells!

Looks fun! And not too cold!
