Orchestra

We have been lucky to have two aspiring musicians in our house this school year.  Zach and Quin were excited to join their school Orchestra group this year.

Zach has an interest in the cello (pretty sure it was inspired by the Piano Guys).  He has a good ear for music, is amazing at memorizing, and has gotten pretty good with this instrument.  The cello produces a beautiful sound!  Right now he plays a 1/4 cello.

Quin has an interest in the viola, but being a little guy, his arm was not long enough to start with that instrument.  So he has started playing a 1/4 violin, and hopes to be able to move on to the viola as he grows.  He practices and works hard to learn his pieces, and sounds pretty great.

Zach and Quin had their first Orchestra concert on January 23, 2014.  They played at the Morgan Theater on the USU campus. (It is in the same building as the Kent Concert Hall.)

They had practiced hard, and they sure looked good in their suits!

Most of the concert consisted of listening to the older kids play their musical pieces.
Finally near the end of the concert, they brought the first year students out and lined them up in front of the stage.   They played excellently!
Much to our disappointment the way the kids were lined up in front of the platform prevented us from seeing the boys play!  They were some of the first to line up there so they ended up on the far left end of the rounded stage.

Good job boys!  Keep up the practicing and you will be able to play to your heart's content, and to our ears joy!
