That wasn't scary at all!

On Saturday our family was given tickets to the American West Heritage Center to check out their fall activities, along with Aunt Jen, and the boy's friend Ben.  They had a corn maze (which we didn't have time to do), a blackout maze, a giant slide, and the part the boys couldn't wait to go see ... the Haunted Hollow.  We all waited in line, listening to all of the shrieks and booming coming from the hollow, as the kids talked about how they were not going to be scared at all.  When our turn finally came, we shuffled thru it as fast as a group can go while clinging tightly to each other boldly declaring that this isn't scary at all!

Ben took the lead since he had been thru this before. Sophie and Jen "shuffled" thru second.  Every once in a while she would tell a ghoul that she wasn't scared at all.  One pirate was down on his knees quizzing her about being scared "not even a little bit?"... and she loudly declared that she wasn't. Quin "shuffled" behind them with his hat on and hands held closely over his ears. When we asked him if it was a little scary, he quickly told us no!  Zach, with his death grip on Mom's hands "shuffled" thru next.  Only a few times did Mom have to remind him that he said he would just say "Boo" back if anyone tried to scare him.  Bringing up the rear was Daddy with Klara packed on his back, laughing at the kids.

For all their declarations of bravery, I still noticed Sophie's clinging to Jen, Quin's hands and hat over his ears, and Zach's death grip on Mom's arms, never let up until we were "out of the woods!"  Only Klara with one tiny little whimper at the 8 foot grim reaper was not afraid to let her true feelings show.  At least we didn't have anyone up that night with nightmares!
