Little Sophie has a hard time swallowing & eating, and she snores a little too. Those tonsils needed to come out.
January 10, 2014 Sophie went in to have her tonsils and adenoids removed, as well as a chunk of ear wax blocking the drum in her left ear. As expected, she was nervous about this whole thing, but was such a good girl. We are so grateful for a good hospital that tries to help our little ones by making a hard experience a little easier.
Sophie checked in Friday morning. They gave her some fun tiger pj's to wear, and led her to her own little bedroom space. She got to put on a blue surgery hat, and her bear Snuffy got one too!
Then for really good kids, just recently they got a little red car that you get to drive all the way to the surgery room! Wow! Look at her go! So glad they could make something fun about this experience for her! She was a great driver, and didn't bump into anything or anyone!
Mom got to watch the surgery in the consultation room on a little monitor, while the doctor talked to her on the speaker phone about what he was doing and finding. Not for the squeamish, but that stuff doesn't bother mom. If it doesn't bother you either, you can ask Heather about the video she took of it.
The surgery went well, and she was back resting on mom's lap in no time. Eating popsicles is great, but nausea is not.
Poor Sophie has had a hard time with recovery because of the nausea. The new nausea medicine we got today will hopefully help that. So far she seems to be feeling more upbeat. Now we are ready for days full of yummy popsicles, go-gurts and applesauce... and even ice-cream. Dad and Klara also brought her a pretty flowered plant today to cheer her up.
Keep going Sweet Sophie, you can do it and will be better before you know it! We love you!
