John's 35 year old brother Sam finally got married! We gladly welcomed Rebecca Rawlins into the Powell family. She is so fun and sweet and beautiful, a great new addition. She is taking top marks this weekend as the kids favorite Aunt!
Beginning with John's parents on Thursday afternoon, we entertained a full house for the weekend! Spencer flew in from Alabama, and showed up that evening with Hyrum, Melissa, and Trevor. Jennifer also joined us that evening after helping set up for the reception. Unfortunately, Dan and Ricci and family did not make it out to the wedding from Nevada.
With everyone in their blues and yellows, we headed to the Logan Temple for an 11am sealing. The little girls played in the temple waiting room while John and I went to the sealing - it was very beautiful, and made me remember my own, as it was in the same sealing room as when we got married.
As soon as the sealing was over, I zipped over to the school and picked up the boys. We made it back just after the bride and groom came out, and just in time for the pictures.
The little girls had a very important job! They got to help hold up the train on Becca's Dress.
After a Thursday full of rain, Friday turned out to be a beautiful, crisp Autumn morning - perfect for a wedding. Not too cold, as long as the sun kept shining! We had a good time with all of the pictures, even if it felt like forever to the kids, they did a great job of staying close, and staying happy. The hardest part was stepping into the shade without jackets on to get the pictures done.
We managed to capture a few nice pics of our little family while we were there at the temple too.
We had a wedding luncheon at the church near Sam's house. Sam bought all of the supplies, and then asked John and I to take charge and make the lunch happen smoothly. The tacos were yummy, and the brownies and pumpkin cake devine! Everyone pitched in to set things up, and to clean things up as well.. It was great!
Friday evening took us to Paradise - no really! Paradise is on the south end of the valley! (I keep trying to tell everyone that cache valley is the best place to live!) Becca's family put on a beautiful reception in the church house. It was complete with blue and yellow table cloths, Aggie Blue Mint, and Lemon Custard ice cream, and Pepperidge Farm cookies!
Brothers would be no brothers at all if there was not a little bit of mischief...like the decorating of the car - which Sam left conveniently right out front with the doors unlocked! Along with everyone else, John, Zach and Quin got a kick out of watching them drive away with the magically appearing cans rattling behind. After Sam stopped and cut them off and then started off again, I thought John would bust a gut laughing at the surprise wired #10 can that still rattled and scraped the road and made Sam stop to release cans a second time!
Happy Honeymoon in Cancun! We are so happy for Becca and Sam!
